Disembarkation Morning: How Getting Off the Ship Works
Getting off a cruise is a staggered, timed process rather than a hotel checkout. Bags go out the night before, you leave the cabin early, and groups walk off in turn between roughly 7am and 9:30am. Knowing the sequence makes the last morning calm.
The last night: what to do
Your cabin steward will leave luggage tags, a disembarkation letter and customs information, usually a day or two before the end.
- Read the letter for your group colour or number, your meeting lounge and your cabin vacate time.
- Choose: checked luggage or self-carry. If you have an early flight, ask guest services about an earlier group.
- Pack your checked bags, leaving out tomorrow's clothes, toiletries and medication.
- Tag every checked bag and put it outside your door by the deadline, often between 10pm and 11pm.
- Check your onboard account in the app and query anything odd at guest services that night, when queues are shorter.
What disembarkation morning looks like
Ships usually dock around dawn. Timings vary by ship and port, but a typical morning runs like this:

Collecting your bags
When your group is called, you scan your card at the gangway and walk into the terminal. Bags are grouped by tag colour or number. Porters can help you to the taxi rank or bus for a tip.
Self-carry: fastest, with conditions
Self-carry, sometimes called express walk-off, means you take every bag off yourself and skip the overnight collection. You are usually first off, often by 7:30am. It suits anyone with a morning flight or a long drive home.
The catch is that you must manage your luggage alone, sometimes down stairs or long gangways, and some lines limit bag size. A family with four big suitcases is better off with tags.

Ending in Vancouver
Canada Border Services Agency clears you at Canada Place. Back after more than 48 hours, each person can bring in up to C$800 of goods duty-free, including limited alcohol (1.5 litres of wine, 1.14 litres of spirits or 24 standard cans of beer).
